Thank You, Guy at Kmart

Published by kristynoble at 2:47 pm under General Edit This

I was reading one of my new favorite blogs this afternoon, Forever Family, and read a post titled Pay It Forward Friday.

I think nearly everyone has seen the movie and her post follows the same idea. Just go out and do something nice for someone even if it doesn’t change the world. You know, back to the basic times when your mom used to tell you to just be nice and you will make friends.

As soon as I read that post, I was reminded about something that happened last night at Kmart.  I was standing in line, still in my work heels and suit, with my hands full. My son was picking up everything possible in the “impulse purchase” area and asking if he could buy it. I was frazzled, tired, quickly losing patience, and I’m sure my hair was a mess.

I turned around to take a deep breath and there was a guy behind me buying a 12 pack of beer and a stuffed teddy bear. I smiled at the bear.

It was finally my turn in line and the cashier proceeded to ask if I wanted to donate $1.00 to (I honestly can’t remember which cause it was). I told her no and heaved a sigh.

The guy behind me spoke up and said, “I’ve got you covered” and put two dollars down on the counter. He told the clerk that the two dollars was for his donation and mine.

It was momentarily touching and put a smile on my face.

So if you were at KMart in Jacksonville, N.C. last night, wearing a white tank top and jeans shorts, and buying Bud Light and a teddy bear….. THANK YOU.

Thank you for the nice thing you did for me.
