Kudos to 9 year old Ruben Nuncio
Here’s the scenario: You’re 9 years old and you and your best friend are riding your bikes home. Out of nowhere, an SUV runs a stop sign and hits your best friend. The driver hops out, removes the bike from under the truck, and speeds off. What do you do?
If you’ve got as much heart as Ruben does, you throw your friend over your shoulder and carry him home. Wow. Thankfully, the kid is going to be ok. I don’t even know too many adults who would have done that.
It’s stories like these that give me a glimmer of hope for the next generation of kids.
But it brings up an interesting point about how a 9 year old had more maturity, common sense, and sheer compassion than a grown driver.
Allow me to repeat myself: the driver got out of the car, pulled the bike out of the way, and drove off. Words cannot describe the loathing that I feel for this person.
Keep this story in mind when you’re teaching your kids about life. The entire story can be read here.
