Happy Hallmark!
As I said before, I know alot of you out there believe that Valentine’s Day is just another way for card, candy and flower companies to boost revenue. That may be true, but so what?
There are far too many stressful and unhappy days in life to not have fun, on a day that’s designated specifically for fun. I’m a firm believer in celebrating anything, any chance I get, and today is no different.
Especially when I wake up to the sweetest, most heart felt Valentine’s card I have ever received in my life. All thanks to a seven year old boy.
My son grabbed his bookbag this morning and pulled out a piece of notebook paper. He handed it to me, kissed me on the cheek, and said “Happy Valentine’s Day, Mom”. Sweeter words were never spoken.
The paper had a drawing at the bottom, presumably me and my son. He drew a red dress on my stick figure, which he knows is my favorite color.
He wrote a letter to me, none of which I will detail in this posting. It’s too close to my heart to share with the world.
So in the name of finding something to celebrate, have some fun today. Make heart-shaped cookies, buy a little pack of Sweethearts candy, or pick up a rose while running your errands.
Or if you’re broke like the rest of us, just take a minute to call up someone close to you and tell them how much you appreciate them.
In the name of pink hearts and red roses, Happy Valentine’s Day!
